Nah, I haven't trained in Kenpo or Arnis in years.  All the wieght loss is due to good diet (kinda), constant running at work, hitting the bench often and my usual appetite suppressant; cleaning public restrooms.

Wow, your grandfather was one of the founders of WIC? O_O

I owe him a lot. Without WIC I would have been living in a homeless shelter my entire life...

I hear that quite a bit.  My sisters both benifited from the WIC program.  The cool thing is he's the kind of person you'ld expect to be a founder of WIC.  He never likes to see kids go hungry or need anything.  If I ever needed money he was always willing to give me some.

Naturally I never took advantage of his generousity, but I remember he would give us (by which I mean all of his grandkids) his credit card, drop us off at the mall and tell us we could by anything we needed for school.  Ofcouse that came to an end after my cousin bought a couple video games and my sister bought a pair of roller blades.  Personally I always repaid his generousity in any way I could, mostly by helping him around the house and yard.  That's how I learned plumbing and carpentry.

He also gave me my first handyman gigs.  He use to own a bunch of rental houses which he'ld let me take care of.  It was a pretty good situation which led to an interest in electricity.

So in short, trust me this is the short version, I owe him a lot too.

I can tell from what you say that your grandfather meant as much to you as mine did. Mine helped found our fire hall and worked at a lighthouse in our port. He did far more charity work then people realize though. He was very kind.
My other grandfather I may have met but never knew(too young).

It sounds like you learned a great deal of things from your grandfather.

Why the stress? Work?

No.  What makes you think that?  Our managers are kittens and the store is always clean.  Not to mention the fact that I get paid in candy and cards...

Believe it or not, I can be more sarcastic.  We are getting a bit of a face lift.  Fresh coat of paint.  The night crew is cleaning the floors...For the first time since they were hired.  We are getting new carts at the end of summer.  New communications network.  The list goes on.  But with all the improvements there's been a lot to clean up.

For example the painting crew left all the used buckets of paint behind for me to take care of.  Old paint that they've scrapped up had to be swept.  They left cigarette butts all over the back of the store.  And ofcourse there is the night crew...  If there's a fire hazard they haven't violated, well, it doesn't exist.  They've left the boiler room door open numerous times.  Block fire exits.  The list goes on and on.

I've spent almost every day off this week cleaning up every crews mess.  And the funny thing is I'm the one responsible for the sudden funding.  I brought our store's rating from a mere 70 something (I want to say 78) to a near perfect 99.

So yeah, I'm a bit stressed over work.  So far I've swept over 8 hours this week and mopped over 5 hours.  My arms, shoulders and back are killing me.

Ofcourse I'm still looking for another job.  I'm getting the average amount of hours and pay.  The most I could hope for at the moment is another 25 cents more an hour and an extra 10 hours.  Just not worth it.  Personally if I can find someplace either more hours or more pay I'll take it.  But at this point I'll settle for weekends off.

My first "job" in Sacramento started me off at $13.50 an hour. Then I moved here and started working for Target which paid me $8.25. My interview last week let me know that the pay would be $7.55.

Yeah, that sort of thing happens.  Most companies pay more for seasonal help than part time/full time employees.  If you are applying to the same Target you should remind them that you have already worked there thus you already have been trained and know the companies policies.  You might get a slightly better offer...Maybe not the 8.25, but it could be raised to 8.
