Close-Minded?

This is a serious question by the way and I just want to know your guys opinion. I appreciate it...

Well the obvious answer is yes you are close minded to that particular topic. But once you try them they open your mind.

But the topic of Close mindedness is a broader topic and covers alot like Multiple religion, spirituality acceptance, Substance use, trying new foods or just new things.

If you shut most of these things down or out then you are probably close minded.

So this topic alone is not enough to labal someone close minded but I do believe Fever you resist many things and shut many things down.

I'm saying for this topic. I don't believe just because I don't want to smoke pot that I'm close minded. You aren't close minded just because you don't do something you aren't comfortable with. Because then that would make us all close minded. Which isn't necessarily true.

Okay Fever I think I can settle this.

When you know someone well for several years(for argument's sake lets say trainer or someone else you would consider to know well IRL, kayla being the exception cause babies complicate things anytime they are involved with hypotheticals). And they turn around and tell you they like weed/hard liquor/ something psudeo legal (not illegal like crack or meth, but not legal like salvia, think moonshine, as it's close to this "psudeo-legal" position I speak of), but are not a full blown addict(IE they consume said vice responsibly), what yould you do?

A: Say you dislike that choice of thieres but continue to accept them provided they continue with their vice in a responsible mannor.

or

B: Decide to cut yourself off from them, as if that 1 thing determined if they were worth being friends with anymore, regardless if how they manage it.

Please give an honest answer, as I feel this will only work if you give a cut and dry Yes or no answer, not some complex yes/no+ conditions/ situations nonsense.

OH and BTW I voted your not closed minded, because I believe it's anyone's choice weather or not to try any of that, but for not knowing it because a person has not tried it I feel that said person should never assume to have the right way to deal with that issue for others. Lack of experience in a subject, no mattr which subject=lack of mastery of said subject's knowledge.

Arktic: by that logic even if fever would be deemed closed minded for not trying it, you deem yourself closed minded for assumeing everything in life must be tested to be understood. Life is indeed about balance, but choice as well.  It's up to someone who has experience to explain these things to those who do not, but it is that person's choice to use the information or disregard it and make thier own judgments. That's how I see this.

The answer is a simple yes. But I'm sorry, I will explain why. This situation is not new to me. I've had a lot of friends that never did it and suddenly did and I found out. I didn't disown them, but I was disappointed. The reason I say yes is because I'm not living with them. I'm not responsible for their choices. They aren't the mother of my child.

And if you don't disown then I'd say your not closed-minded. you have your beliefs and they have theirs. Disowning someone for thier choices I see as being close-minded.

The point i am making is that he IS CLOSING HIS MIND to drugs. IS IS CLOSING... So by definition in the topic of drugs he is Closed Minded. Why does this have to be taken in such a negative way??? It is ok to close your mind to drugs. I am not judging him for it. I am just being honest about the nature of it. It doesn't matter what his reasons are for it but the facts are that he is closing his mind to drugs so he should just own it and say yea I am closing my mind to drugs and so what. That doesn't make me a close minded person just because i CHOOSE to close off certain things.

Being called close minded can pertain to many subject but really noone is entirely close minded the saying is completely useless because the mind is so vast that some things will always be closed off.

and this term closed minded is used for people who castrasize other people for there race or religion and that is truely wrong. That would be the only reason being called closed minded should even bother you. So Fever why you taking offense?

Well a few of us don't think that way according to the poll Arktic. I think close-minded is the wrong word for it entirely. It's a negative connotation to say that over something that isn't good anyway. BSA and I think alike. He knows what I mean.

I don't disown my friends when they did this stuff. But the path they started on because of stuff like this eventually led to us not hanging out anymore.

As long as you don't lean to an extreme (an absolute "yes" or "no" to any of them), then you're not close-minded.

Arktic, I get you don't mean it in a negative way. I do, really, but fever sees what your saying that way.

It's his choice to close his mind off to the thought of drugs being okay to use\abuse. Fair, but it's ours to state that not all drugs are bad. And some while currently illegal under certain country\ province\state laws, are perfectally fine and do not really harm the body, only alter the mind temperarily. (one example of a "harmless" drug IMO.)

Pretty much what I'm doing. Dude, Arktic I know that. But if it were that easy, I'd have no problems. None of us would.

That is why I strive to eliminate Anger from my mind, so when I and another person in real life get in an argument I can be clear headed and look at it in an emotionless way to clearly analyze the situation and person. Try to understand that person and explain things in a calm logical manner to resolve the issue.

I believe reacting to anger is a sign of mental weakness so that is why I meditate and eliminate Anger. Once you get anger in check everything else is simple. Is that cliche?
