Judging off of reviews. But can't say for sure until I've seen the film. I just know I'll like CA2 more.

I probably won't get to see the movie for a long time. So I won't be in this thread until I see it. Movie is out in theaters on Friday.

I've already seen spoilers on it.

I saw the movie this weekend. I liked it a lot. I've heard a bunch of different reasons why people didn't like it so far. What's yours?

I thought it was really good. A lot better than the last Thor movie.

the only complaint I can come up with is that they tried too hard to make it a comedy. Like Thor joking around seems out of character.

but action comedy sells really well.

I thought the movie was meh. Lotta dry and bad puns for the most part. I knew they couldn't kill off Loki. Fan base is WAY too big for that. And the post credit film, I didn't understand one bit. I wanted to take characters like Thor and Loki seriously but they just made everyone a comic pretty much. That's too much for me. 2/5

I don't even remember the post credit short... it didn't reveal any up coming hype like it should have... also I would give the movie a 3.5/5

I MIGHT watch again for free if I had the chance. Still would not purchase. I didn't have high expectations for the movie anyway. Hopefully Captain America 2 delivers.

Post credit shows the Collector and those 2 Asgardians with the Aether, now refferred to as an Infinity Stone. A.k.a. Infinity Gems for the Infinity Gauntlet for Thanos. I'm guessing each movie coming up might be introducing a different gem/stone leading up to the next Avengers movie. Or at least the Gaurdians of the Universe (I think that's the name of it) movie will introduce the rest.
As for the humor is bad and out of character thing. I think it is bad to presume someone can't have fun, or laugh, or have a good time, or make a joke. Even very serious people I know at work, when not working can joke around and have fun. All people have to find enjoyment and humor in life, otherwise you will go crazy.
Also, it's not like that was a weird change to those characters they made for this movie. Thor and Loki have both been known to joke and laugh in both The Avengers and the first Thor movie.

oh yea the infinity gauntlet now I remember the short. Thanks for the refresher.

Also in all of Thor's portrayals outside of mentioned movies,  he never jokes around like that. You can go and watch the 2 animated Avengers movies and watch episodes of the Avengers cartoons. It is just out of his known character and they do it in the movies to make it have a comedy value. But still out of character.

Even in the comics Thor is a very serious character and only chills out and laughs at the end of the story when all the fighting is over and he and the Asgardings are drinking ale and feasting after battle.

So This is what I was referring to in my last post.

Seems all the Marvel movies want to add that touch of Comedy to all their movies. When that character in a comic book would be dead serious. Comics just have a more serious and dark feel.

I would love to see a rated R iteration of a comic book that 8s very popular like X-Force.

Thor and Loki were better in Avengers. But Avengers was a way better movie anyway. Thor 2 has bad puns all the way through it. Too much.

I'm having problems putting my opinion into words for some reason.
I have never read a comic book and thought that character dialogue and interactions were very realistic. They rarely ever have little fluctuations in emotion because it's difficult to draw/animate emotions that can come close to the actual human face. When they do 'break character' and show different emotions than normal, it's because the writer/artist want's the reader to make sure he notices that this character is very human: 'He has other emotions. See?' They also tend to just show the extreme emotions as those are the easy ones to draw/animate. Angry, sad, happy, serious.
When actors and directors start filming a movie based on one of these properties (or perhaps the writer was insightful enough to know that ahead of time), it becomes obvious very fast that real people wouldn't be so non-stop uptight, so they add some humor where humor would naturally occur. People are flexible and they can react to different situations differently, not just stone cold face of seriousness all the time.
I think what I'm trying to say is I like the movie Thor better than the comic book and cartoon Thor because it seems more realistic, believable, and relatable to me.
Thor and Loki were better in Avengers. But Avengers was a way better movie anyway. Thor 2 has bad puns all the way through it. Too much.
Interesting, seeing as how they seemed even more humorous through Avengers than in Thor 2. It was less obvious cuz they are on screen less?

comic books and cartoons portray humor just fine. Deadpool portrays humor effortlessly in the pages of comic books and his face isn't even showing, so it really doesn't matter what they can and can't draw.

I mostly read Xmen comics and I have a bunch of them and you can clearly see which characters are humorous and which characters are not. They easily portray this in a comic.

like clearly cyclops is mostly serious, he never jokes around and only smiles whilst spending time with his lady friend.

and in the comics wolverine is actually more humorous than the Hugh Jackman version is. But wolvie has a switch he flips because he can be a stone cold murder.

which brings up a topic I want to talk about. X-Force

X-Force is in plan to enter production sometime in the future. I suggest googling this badass sh!t. And if they do make it, it better be rated R. I might make a thread about it.

Avengers was only funny 95% of the time because of Tony Stark.

What I'm trying to say is that EVERY person is humorous IRL, at times; and that should be true for made up characters as well. No one is always serious, never laughs at jokes, never cracks, etc. The notion that Cyclops and Thor when played by real life actors should just stand there and shut up unless they have something sad, angry, or serious to say is stupid.

I remeber Black Widow scenes that were funny, Bruce Banner scenes that were funny, Thor scenes that were funny, and a Hawk Eye scene that was funny.

Finally saw Thor: The Dark World.  And I must say I enjoyed it.  Sure some of the humor was dry and for a guy who reads I lot I hate subtitles.  Otherwise it was pretty good.  But I was never a really big Thor fan and had no expectations for it other than something new to watch.
