Do you think Bug type is useful? It seems like the most underwhelming type and there are only like three Special Bug type moves and the rest are Physical.

Even logically, I don't see how Bug supposedly screws over Psychic, Dark, and Grass types. But I guess they needed to add a weakness for Dark besides Psychic and Ghost.

Idk. I'm just doing a lot of reading of stats and moves. I haven't actually "studied" Pokemon things since the release of Sapphire version.

Is the Bug-type useful?

On paper, no.  Say you were a fast, hard-hitting sweeper like Yanmega.  You'll hafta have a Bug-type move just to get STAB for damage.  Defensively, you'll resist Fighting & Ground, but every team should carry a Fire-type move user & Stealth Rocks are pretty much staple.  And it turns out most Bug-type Pokemon suck.

The only widely useful Bug-type move is U-Turn, not for its type but for its useful effect of switching out & into a more appropriate Pokemon.  Scizor is the only Pokemon who owns the title of being a Bug-type well.  High attack, part Steel, able to take a few hits.  Knows just the right moves (Bullet Punch, Pursuit, U-Turn) to counter special sweepers that are Psychic
* (Alakazam, Starmie, Lati twins, Reuniclus).  Bug-type holds a niche in being anti-meta.  Or rather, Scizor does.  Because Bugs are quite honestly terrible in general.

*Speaking of which, Psychic is not a particularly good type.  Psychic Pokemon are naturally gifted with high special attack, but it's as if they were marked Psychic just so they could be checked by Dark & Bug.  Balances the game & adds to the meta.

The worst type in the game has to be Poison. It excels in neither offense or defense and has no niche.

Thanks for the input. A lot of these moves and Pokemon are new so I don't know. I was just thinking, Bug types naturally stand no chance against any of the common Pokemon types out there. Plus, yeah. There's really nothing Bugs can do that another Pokemon already in your party can't do.

Scizor looks cool but probably would use. I caught Scyther the other day and it was bittersweet.

Funny enough, Poison and Bug types, I never liked.

No prob, Fever.

Scyther - awesome as f*ck but alas it is like Charizard in the harsh game world.

Forgot to mention Forretress for being useful as a wall, but there are better choices for team structure & you want Scizor as your Bug/Steel for doin' things no one else can do.  U-Turn simply brings a team together.

What about Pinsir and Heracross? They have stats of like 500 or 505 I think.

Pinsir sux.
: I  It doesn't do sh*t.  Not bulky or fast enough.

Heracross is OK.  I don't see him being useful without a Choice Scarf because its speed is mediocre.

Bugs just seem to be outdone but other types. Probably useless until Fairies come out. And hopefully more come out next gen.
