You read it right. 2DS. Nintendo's latest system designed with its target audience in mind, the children.
The system will be $129.99 and will launch on October 12. Yes, the same day as Pokemon X and Y. The Nintendo 2DS plays 3DS and DS games but has NO 3D effect. The battery is also reportedly weaker than the 3DS and it is also heavier. Discussion.http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/new/

Okay, the Nintendo handheld line has always had some kind of logic to it. Some technological difference or better features. But this is just odd. I mean DS to 3DS makes sense, but this seems like a step backwards. What's next? 1DS? Playing your favorite game as a line segment?

I'd rather pay the extra $40 for a lighter system, longer battery life, a system I can fold and put in my pocket, play 3D games, and have better speakers and cameras.
This is a glorified Pokemon machine. That's all it is. It's for naive parents to buy their little children something they think they want for a cheap price. Come on, it even releases on the same day as X and Y.
