Thursday night comedian Dave Chappelle walked off the stage halfway through a performance at Hartford's Comcast Theater after being heckled by people in the audience.  Some have taken to social media complaining that he didn't actually perform stating that "All he did was come out on stage and smoke two cigarettes" and "just sat on the stage for 23 minutes".  Dave addressed his walk off with an apology to the rest of the audience and has sworn not to return.

Personally I respect Dave and his walk off.  He was simply out there doing his job, which is to entertain.  If he was unable to do that because some a**holes can't shut up, then he has right to leave.  As for his "smoking" and "sitting" on stage it was clearly a way to pass time while waiting for the hecklers to come to their senses and not an insult.

The way I see it his only mistake was doing a show in Hartford.  Everyone knows Hartford is full of a**holes.  If he had done the show in Uncasville he would have been able to do his show without being harassed.  Mohegan Sun doesn't permit jacka** hecklers into the arena.

Kinda bad luck for a guy trying to restart his career.

More is coming out from this story.

Quote
I like some of you. I hate some of you.

Good healthy attitude.  Lets see if he'll continue down the mature and reasonable road...

Quote
I don't want anything bad to happen to the United States, but if North Korea ever drops a nuclear bomb on this country, I swear to God I hope it lands in Hartford, Connecticut.

Okay...Not quite what I was expecting.  My family and I didn't go to the show and we would be close to the fallout zone.  Not to mention millions, if not billions, of other people who also didn't go to the show.  And lets not forget that Hartford is next to the Massachusetts boarder.  Enough of this.  Lets hear what a representative of the state's capital has to say.  Mayor Segarra?

Quote
Dave Chappelle should quit whining, do his job and try some yoga.

Uh, yeah.  That's what he was trying to do when he was heckled.

Quote
Dave Chappelle should stick to his job, give the fans what they paid for and not disparage the good people of Hartford.

Basically the same quote really.  I would just like to point out that after the Hartford incident his show in Chicago went well.  Which means he does intend to give the audience what they paid for.

So, yeah, Dave went overboard with his comment.  But the mayor of Hartford should realize that these back-to-back performances were completely different and redact his statements.  Do I think Dave should do the same?  Of course, but he is not an elected official.  What is the next performer going to think about Hartford?  That the audience will be unruly?  That the mayor will turn a blind eye to this behavior and actually defend it?

It is important to note that I do not condone Dave's comments.  We have all said something out of anger that we did not mean.  And I'm sure Dave will eventually say something along those lines.  But I do understand that anger.  And whether I like it or not it is freedom of speech, which is a right.
