After listening to an absolutely awful cover not that long ago (Deftones - Simple Man), it got me thinking on what the best cover I had heard was. For me it would have to be Imagine by A Perfect Circle. Not because it's technically the best cover. But because it takes the songs message, and COMPLETELY reverses it. I mean, both cover and original are good songs, but it's incredible how different the feel and message in them are. Quite a feat for A Perfect Circle to pull off I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dunKAwRN3P8&feature=kp

probably the best cover I have ever heard is Aaron Lewis from Staind covering Pearl Jam's Black. He expressess so much emotion through this song. And when you can do that with someone else's song so well and make the people listening actually feel something, yoy have truely made that your own truely being heard through you.

other good covers that crossover genres are Foo Fighters covering Prince's Nikki. Framing Handley covering Lil Wayne's Lolipop and Linkin Park covering Adel's Rollin in the Deep.

Does it have to be a cover band or can it be a cover musician? If so I'm gonna go with Brian Haner aka Guitar Guy. He opened for Jeff Dunham when I saw him live at Mohegan Sun. Dude is as talented as he is funny. And he is hilarious.
