Remakes poll

Okay a pretty straight forward question. A remake comes out which generation do you think it belongs in? Does it belong with the original? Or does it belong in the current generation?

And before anyone asks; no, this has nothing to do with my thread being moved. This is an ongoing debate held at a lot of Pokémon message boards. Some will say FireRed and LeafGreen belong in gen 1, others say gen 3. And I'm curious as to the general opinion of the two guys who still post here.
